A huge variety of scented candles is offered today with various colours, sizes and scents. It's not easy to decide which brands to try. A few things to think about would help us decide. A few key pointers include;
1. Others' advice
2. Expense (individual brands of scented candle are very expensive)
3. Unusual candles that have caught your interest
4. The colour of a candle to match a particular scheme in your home
5. The type of fragrance you enjoy
6. Environmental reasons (soy wax or bees wax)
7. Birthday present, wedding present or just for you
8. Simply to relax
Consider these points when weighing up the different candle brands. Consider a few of these points.
RECOMMENDATIONS FROM ACQUAINTANCES
Recommendations from others are a fabulous way to begin your perfect scented candle quest. A brand recommended by a neighbour or associate is usually pretty good. Keep in mind however that everyone experiences fragrance differently. No two noses are the same and you might be underwhelmed by a particular brand even if came highly rated. Use personal recommendations as a starting point to find your perfect scented candle and then research some more on the web, ask others and look for special offers.
HOW MUCH TO PAY FOR YOUR SCENTED CANDLES
Scented candles vary greatly in price with some being very expensive. Some that I have come across in the UK are priced at well over £200! They might last a long time, they might even smell great but £200! Quality and price are not usually linked when it comes to scented candles. Price will certainly indicate the profit margin. If you have a specific budget and are looking for a scented candle as a present or simply to relax with, the choice of scented candle is endless. Not all are great but some will be.
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALIFICATIONS
Paraffin candles are very much yesterdays news in the scented candle world. Recent research has shown that paraffin candles emit carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals) when burning. Not a good thing! Not always but quite often, paraffin candles are cheaper than the clean burning soy candles. Big brands such as Yankee Candle continue to use paraffin with a slight concession to the new "clean" burning soy wax candles. My advice, steer well clear of paraffin and look out for quality soy wax scented candles.
YOUR VERY OWN TESTS
So we have a few pointers to help guide our scented candle decision making. Now you can place a few orders with your shortlist in hand. Make notes about the burn time, fragrance strength and your opinion regarding each candle you burn. Try just one candle each day. Be objective. Your perfect scented candles are out there just waiting to be discovered. I know it sounds like a whole lot of work but the ends justify the means. A few dollars spent experimenting will finally lead you to your scented candle heaven.
